Singer/songwriter Sara Murphy is no stranger to the stage. Having performed since the age of five, Sara has been deeply involved in dance, theatre and music. She has toured in the U.S. and Canada as a soloist with several choral groups and with a modern dance troupe, and has worked as both a choreographer and a producer.
This triple-threat has been a lead performer with the Glen Theatre in Cornwall, a frequent performer with Cornwall's Arts in the Park program, and a featured artist on TV Cogeco's Studio X-Pose. You may have seen her open for the Barstool Prophets at their wildly popular Reunion Concert or as part of the Songwriters Organization of Eastern Ontario "Songwriters Showcase". Although she was trained privately in voice, piano and guitar, Sara's passion for rock and pop music can be felt in her songwriting. Her soothing, sultry style seamlessly blends Indie folk rock grooves with just a hint of blues and world music influence.
More recently, Sara produced the hugely successful "Rock the Cure" Benefit Concert & Silent Auction, which saw rockers and participants raise over $8000 for The Canadian Cancer Society. She also produced the "Spirit of a City" Compilation CD with the help of engineer Roy Nichol at DreamBuilderStudios in Cornwall. The CD features 16 songs from Cornwall area musicians and is being sold to raise money for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation.
Sara is presently in the studio recording some new tracks to follow her 2003 self-titled debut release.
